this makes me happy for MULTIPLE REASONS, one being that this means Bryan watches Parks.

lol it's funny, literally right after I reblogged it and posted "Very sneaky Bryan. I see what you did there," he edited his post. Excuse me while I pretend he personally replied to me ahhh
okay, sorry guys, i'll join in the convo once i watch the episode, but what happened to the watch posts adn download links???
There is one...? Like four posts down bb.
thanks, i just found it! i thought i had already joined the community so i didn't see the locked posts -__-
They're still there(?). I locked the downloads posts, so they're members-only.
ugh apparently i forgot to join the community even though i've commented in posts before lol -___- thanks!
Everyone has pretty much said what I thought about the situation a lot more eloquently than I could, but I'd just like to chime in and say that I think the reason that people are leaning more towards Lin's side is because as a character, she seems a lot more "defined" compared to Pema. Lin is a very in-your-face kind of person, whereas as far as we know, Pema's just this nice pregnant woman that enjoys being at home with her kids. I think it's less the fact that Lin is the better choice and more that Pema hasn't exactly been too developed yet (Of course, you could say that for ALL of the female characters besides Korra, including Lin, but that's imo)

Also, people forget that it's okay if a woman wants to choose to be a stay-at-home mom. Just because Lin has a career or maybe doesn't want kids, doesn't make either her or Pema the better "woman." People can do whatever the hell they want with their lives.
I think Lin being Toph's daughter is also a factor. It's hard not to be sympathetic toward the children of your most beloved characters. Heck, we know next to nothing about Kya and Bumi, and I didn't even like Kataang, but I'm dying to meet them (and Zuko's daughter). It does color our perception, whether we want it to or not.
Also, personal observation - Lin and Tenzin's personalities seem to clash a bit, as they're both very different (even if Tenzin can be a bit quick tempered). I could understand that for him, for his personality and needs and even his skill set might demand a home life that is more idk, calm? I think some people can feed off and thrive in relationships that are a bit chaotic and where opposites attract, but I think that might in the end just really stress Tenzin out and make him unhappy, if that makes sense? I think that's one of the reasons they might have drifted apart. Dealing with someone as prickly as Lin could take its toll.

That's not to say he left Lin bc she was too cunty and Pema was this nice little doormat or something (she seems to be quite assertive in her own way) but I think her personality flows with Tenzins' and the life they lead, so it matches up more. Just a thought. But yeah, I don't think it's problematic that he left Lin for a younger woman or that he left her at all.

And can I just say, I really admire Pema, actually. If we suppose that she confessed to Tenzin 13 years ago (Jinora is 10, and I like to think they waited a year or two before having children), then she was this 22 year old young woman, quite shy, who confessed to an Airbending Master who was 38 and with a Metalbending Officer, who was 37 and obviously quite powerful. I mean, can you just imagine the guts it took? I am so in awe of her tbh! Maybe she even saw that Tenzin was unhappy or stressed (in her opinion, which could be true since his relationship with Lin was faltering, at least on his part) and decided to just lay it all out. U go gurl imo! Get yo man!

Now I want fics and fanart and everything in-between. I might write it myself tbh!
I have now been writing a Pemzin fic instead of writing my essay. Thank you! Thanks, post. This is just great. Justtt dandy.
Share when you're done!
Yeah, I think that this is how it happened too.
The most depressing thing is that Lin is not going to have children a this point.
Her awesome genes will go wasted :'(
Who knows? Some people have children when they're past 50.
With whom, though? :( I mean I would be glad if she's going to find someone,of course but it doesn't really seem in her mind.
Idk, whoever. And just because we haven't seen one or haven't heard of one, doesn't mean she didn't have any?

Not that I think she did, just... we don't know.
Do we know for sure that she doesn't have kids? :O It could be one of those, "You never asked!" kind of things...
Your comment is actually giving me hope. She could have had some kid with someone she met right after Tenzin, but I don't know. I wish it's true, though. Bei Fong's line shall never die!
The only problem with this storyline I have is how fandom will take it because we all know that female characters who physically kick ass get praised while those who take on a more feminine role are often hated and the fact that we have yet another love triangle that pits a traditionally feminine woman against a "tomboy" (in addition to the Asami/Mako/Korra one) might bring out the wank even more than usual.

But other than that, I'm pretty excited to see what they do with this. I think this is the first time Avatar will actually deal with romance issues for older characters so it could be interesting and I loved the chemistry between Tenzin/Lin during their scenes.
